Mohs Surgery: The “Gold-Standard” in Skin Cancer Treatment

Mohs surgery is a highly specialized technique, which is the “Gold Standard” for skin cancer treatment, as it is the most advanced, precise, and effective treatment for skin cancers. Mohs surgery is generally reserved for cancers located on the head, neck, hands, feet, and shins, where the preservation of the maximum amount of surrounding healthy “non-cancerous” tissue is critical for function and cosmesis.

Mohs surgery results in the highest cancer cure rate (99%), while at the same time minimizing the sacrifice of normal, healthy “non-cancerous” tissue, which leads to the smallest possible wound and optimal cosmetic results – which leads to optimal outcomes. Mohs surgery is also utilized for aggressive, or large (2.0 cm or greater) skin cancers located on the trunk, arms, and legs.
